Perfume Storage & Usage Guide
At Sahayat Fragrances, every bottle is crafted with care and prepared after your order is confirmed to ensure maximum freshness and quality. Unlike perfumes that remain in warehouses for months, our fragrances are freshly blended and bottled for each customer.
To enjoy the best possible performance, please read the following guidelines.
Freshly Crafted Perfumes & Maturation
Because every Sahayat fragrance is prepared on order, your perfume may continue to develop during the first few weeks after you receive it. This is a completely natural process known as maturation (also called maceration).
What is Perfume Maturation?
Perfume maturation is the process in which fragrance oils, alcohol, and other ingredients gradually blend together over time. As the perfume rests, the ingredients become more balanced, allowing the fragrance to reveal its full character.
During maturation, you may notice:
- A smoother and richer scent profile.
- Better blending between the top, middle, and base notes.
- Improved longevity.
- Stronger projection.
- A more refined overall fragrance experience.
This process naturally occurs in quality perfumes and is one of the reasons many fragrance enthusiasts allow their perfumes to rest before regular use.
How to Help Your Perfume Mature
For the best results:
- Store the bottle in a cool, dry place.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid excessive heat and humidity.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
- If possible, allow the perfume to rest for 3–4 weeks after receiving it before judging its final scent and performance.
You can still use your perfume immediately, but many customers notice improved richness and longevity after it has matured.
Proper Perfume Storage
Correct storage helps preserve your fragrance and extend its lifespan.
Do:
- Store your perfume at normal room temperature.
- Keep the bottle upright.
- Keep the cap tightly closed.
- Store it inside a cupboard or drawer away from sunlight.
- Handle the bottle carefully to prevent accidental damage.
Avoid:
- Direct sunlight.
- High temperatures.
- Bathrooms with constant humidity.
- Leaving the bottle inside a parked vehicle.
- Frequently exposing the bottle to excessive air.
Improper storage may reduce the fragrance’s freshness, longevity, and overall performance over time.
Where to Apply Your Perfume
For the best projection and lasting performance, apply perfume to clean, moisturized skin and the body’s pulse points, where warmth helps diffuse the fragrance naturally.
Recommended application areas include:
- Behind the ears
- Sides of the neck
- Collarbone area
- Inside the wrists
- Inner elbows
- Chest
- Behind the knees (optional)
- Lightly inside the collar of your shirt
- Lightly inside jacket or coat lining
Avoid rubbing your wrists together after applying perfume, as this can alter the natural development of the fragrance.
Applying Perfume on Clothing
Many Sahayat fragrances can safely be sprayed on darker fabrics. However, some perfumes contain naturally colored fragrance oils like Ouds or woody fragrances, which may leave light stains or spots on white or light-colored clothing.
For this reason, we recommend:
- Avoid spraying perfume directly onto white or delicate fabrics.
- Do not spray from very close range onto clothing.
- Instead, apply the fragrance to your skin first.
- If applying to clothing, spray lightly inside the collar, inner cuffs, jacket lining, or other less visible areas.
- Allow the perfume to dry before your clothing comes into contact with the sprayed area.
Sahayat Fragrances cannot be held responsible for staining caused by applying perfume directly to delicate or light-colored fabrics.
How Much Perfume Should You Apply?
Less is often more.
For everyday wear:
- 3–5 sprays provide a balanced scent.
For special occasions or longer wear:
- 5–8 sprays may provide stronger projection and longevity.
Applying excessive amounts will not necessarily make the fragrance last longer and may become overwhelming to those around you.
Safety Instructions
For safe use, please follow these precautions:
- For external use only.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mouth.
- Do not apply to broken or irritated skin.
- Keep away from flames and heat sources, as perfumes are flammable.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- If irritation or an allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional if necessary.
